About the Fundamentals of Argumentation Workshop (Beginners)

“As a person with no debate experience whatsoever, I believe that I was able to learn much … The welcoming atmosphere also contributed to my learning, and I was able to form many friendships as well.”

-David Seo, The Albany Academies, New York

“Everyone here was very supportive. I met some great kids and teachers and enjoyed my week at Dartmouth.”

Oliver Shih, Bergen Catholic High School, New Jersey

“Having a judge there to give you a definitive idea of who won was extremely beneficial to my understanding of what works and what doesn’t, particularly as a beginner.”

-Christopher Parios, Fauquier High School, Virginia

“I came…with no debating experience, just with some enthusiasm and the goal of improving my public speaking skills.  But by the end of the three weeks, I realized that I had gotten more than what I had bargained for.  I made many friends…and I attained lifelong skills, such as managing my time, supporting statements with evidence, and writing concisely.  I would do it all over again if I had the chance!”

-Leanne Shen, 2012 attendee
